Milan Starcic (aka Dr. Audio , Wizard of the Soundwaves) of Junction Studios helped make our virgin recording voyage safe, fun and incredibly productive. Thank you forever Milan! In addition to fretless bass and keyboards on the album, Milan introduced us to his circle of musicians, several of whom sat in on our songs, to our great advantage. Cortes Island rocks!  

I swear Seamas Manly, TRR's newest member, is a supernatural being. He appeared at the studio one evening, worked like a demon for a day and a half, created a couple of dozen tracks of jaw-dropping guitar magic on songs he’d only heard once or twice, then vanished from sight. Afterward, we were like, who was that masked man? We are extremely fortunate to have such a stellar player join the band.  

Peter Cloud Panjoyah has played drum kit with many bands including local Hornby Island favourites Mo'Fire, Nomad and Amani Marimba. And the man can sing! Milan measured his vocal range—he clocks in at 5 octaves. That’s incredible! And he writes great songs. I’m proud to be his musical partner and album co-creator.  

And me (Phoenix Wolf-Ray)? The process of writing a song always amazes me. They appear in my mind full-grown where they lodge and drive me nuts until I get them written down and memorized. And I love to sing, so there you go.

After a performance, a friend said, “You’ve got to make a CD... It’s not fair to put us through those emotional states in public.” There’s some truth in that. This is intimate music. Try listening with headphones.  

The performances, though often inspired, aren’t perfect. There are missed notes here and there. This was virtually a no-budget production, with no time for perfection. What you hear is what we did, usually on the first take. The strength of the album is in the power of the songs and the magic of the moment.  

Some of the songs are enhanced with creative panning and effects; some are virtually naked. Those of us who participated in this album believe we have created something special. We hope you like it too.
